The Dark Hall explores the processes of grieving and mourning due to the sudden death of a close family member. It is a project that attempts to memorialise the life of my aunt Veronika and my relationship with her. Through making deeply material forms of photomontage, I explore the many emotions I am experiencing as I try to understand her death as well as the ongoing confusion I feel about her loss. I am using photography and the book form with the goal of keeping my memories of my aunt alive while also keeping these intimate reflections both personal and oblique.
